NEW YORK - Sept. 25, 2018 - PRLog -- Excel International Fashion Week & Awards New York 2018 was strategically positioned to kickoff New York Fashion Week with a luxury car photo shoot, press conference and networking mixer, international fashion and award show, Hollywood Movie Industry seminar and New York Pop Up Shop.

The designers that showcased on the runway included Culture Trees (New York), House of Lamaica Couture (Florida), FashPhiletta Designs (Liberia), Noneillah Collection (New York), TeKay Designs (Liberia), Moto's Boutique (Texas), Queen Of The Brides, and ITES International / Sequoia (New York).  A wide variety of designs were featured on the runway ranging from evening and semi-formal wear to casual attire, couture and ready to wear, and a rainbow of color.  Designers incorporated Ankara, kente, tie-dye, cotton, satin, organza, silk fabrics and eye-catching silhouettes in their collections for a truly international experience.  Models participated from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Texas, Maryland, and California.  View video at https://youtu.be/e1Z_8lmaJWs. Lavish Addictions by Lakia Curtis provided hair styling and makeup, and Leah Foley provided signature hair looks. Vendors included Bellus, UrbanFashionNetwork.net, Nina K Naturals, S&L Organics and House of Lamaica Couture.



Excel Leadership Award was provided to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (represented by Remy Salas - Manhattan Director); Hon. Charles Onyejiaka (Councilman 3rd Ward, Township of Franklin, New Jersey); Chief Michael Okechukwu Amuzie (New Jersey) and Nyerere Chinenye Anyim (Abia State, Nigeria).  Excel KDE Humanitarian Awards were issued to Dr. Mrs. Anthonia Uche Umeh, First Lady, Republic of Liberia - Mrs. Clar Marie Weah (Represented by Rosemarie James), and Mr. Daniel Nsomekela  (Disability Africa Initiative).  Excel Entertainment - Lifetime Achievement Award was issued to Hollywood Actor David McKnight. Kim Guillory Odunlami (Leadership Strategist) and David McKnight moderated the events. FREE Modelland books by Tyra Banks were given away at the events by David McKnight.

Kimma Wreh (President, KDE Disability Africa Foundation) and Boniface Ihiasota (CEO, Excel Global Media Group are the Executive Producers of Excel International Fashion Week New York & Awards. Wreh stated that "This is a platform to project African fashion, culture and tourism in New York, the world's fashion leader.  Models are also promoted on Excel Global Models online portfolio that caters to print and runway models, and provides model coaching and model media management." During the Excel International Fashion Week press conference, Mr. Boniface Ihiasota stated that a major goal of this fashion week was to provide a positive showcase of culture, fashions and style. "We provided an affordable platform for emerging designers that included not only runway shows and exhibition booths but media publicity via television, social media and magazine publication.  Five percent of sales for each copy of Excel Magazine will be donated to KDE Disability Africa Foundation to further our commitment to supporting people with disabilities in Africa and the US." states Ihiasota (CEO, Excel Global Media Group).

The Mayoral Message from Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York was delivered by Mr. Remy Salas (Manhattan Director) at the event. "New York's incredible artistic landscape incorporates the customs of people from across the globe, and our thriving and diverse fashion sector is a great source of pride for the five boroughs". Featuring fashions and designers from across Africa, Excel International Fashion Week will celebrate this vital industry and Africa's rich and diverse heritage. With runway shows, exhibition booths, opportunities for networking, and educational seminars, this exciting event promotes cross-cultural exchange, while also raising critical funding for KDE Disability Africa Foundation and providing participants with the chance to support the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. "I am proud to applaud this event's organizers and supporters for uniting New Yorkers of all backgrounds in shared appreciation of talented designers who are shaping the future of fashion and for working to improve quality of life for people around the world." stated the Mayor.
