Follow on Google News | Unstoppable Growing Red Tide Portends Red Wave In Upcoming November Election? While a possible record-breaking red tide has no foreseeable end, impacts now seen on both Florida coasts, protesters and media react in utter and defiant ignorance.
Widespread misinformation and ignorance prompt many in the media to denounce everyone from farmers and homeowners to industry and Florida Governor Rick Scott for the 2018 Florida red tide. The simple undeniable fact is that, despite decades of solid work by competent researchers, little progress has been made in understanding all the factors that initiate and exacerbate most harmful algal blooms. While Sarasota's Mote Marine Lab recently announced possible breakthroughs in technologies that have hope of mitigating Florida red tides, progress toward a viable application is likely more decades away. These facts have not stopped the scientifically naïve from protesting against Governor Scott. A recent campaign stop by the beleaguered Florida Governor was met by the unreasoned protests of the ignorant and misinformed. According to a September 18 Palm Beach Post report, one protestor stated '"The more I learn about red tide the more I can point to Rick Scott making it worse." Sadly, such "learning" was not aided by the actual scientific facts, but by irresponsible and unverifiable media reports. For example, despite all reliable evidence, Sarasota's Herald-Tribune unabashedly claims that "scientists say the problem is enhanced by land-borne pollutants," These East-West Coast red tides coincide with the publication of a new book, When The Tide Turns: Almost Everything You Need To Know About Red Tides and Other Harmful Algal Blooms, by science writer Eric Deadwyler. This book explains what these phenomenon are and answers these questions: What are red tides? Are they dangerous to people or wildlife? Is it safe to eat seafood caught in sea water where a red tide is occurring? What can be done about red tides? And more. Deadwyler was formerly Director of Education and Science at Florida's Gulfarium. He has given scientific and technical lectures in marine science and related fields, as well as philosophy of education, to all age groups, including university-level in-service teacher staff development. He has owned and/or maintained several dozen aquariums, from tiny fish bowls to 10,000+ gallons, and kept over 300 species of aquatic and marine flora and fauna. Deadwyler is retired from science education and now lives in Appalachia with his wife where they write music, build musical instruments, and pastor Covenant Cowboy Church. When The Tide Turns is available on paperback on Amazon.com and in e-book format for Kindle at http://a.co/ In a strange twist, this year's Florida red tide may presage a paradigm shift in American politics. Despite earlier media pronouncements of an approaching "blue wave," recent poll numbers and the rapid growth of the "Walkaway" movement have prompted many to openly suggest a coming "red wave" in November's election. In a recent CBN News interview, Fox News' The New Revolution host Steve Hilton states that the populist revolution that brought Donald Trump to the White House is likely to "turn it into a real lasting change, a real movement for change with positive ideas for how to rebuild economic security and family and community in America." Hilton expects that this predominately red wave from 2016 "will advance beyond November and well into America's political and economic future." Moreover, The Way Back author Dutch Sheets, perhaps the most insightful prophetic voice for this generation, states on a September 24 post on his blog that this "great turnaround… has truly begun in this nation." Sheets warns Americans who desire to remain free from political oppression that the key for this movement to continue is both political involvement and prayer. "The length, scope, and severity of this year's Florida red tide could have staggering prophetic implications for American politics for decades," says Pastor Eric Deadwyler of the cowboy church in Cashiers, NC. He has been wondering if the long past California Spring blue tide and record-breaking red tide in Florida may well be the signature prophetic signposts of America's political future. After prophetic dreams and recent prophetic readings from the Bible, Pastor Deadwyler states that many signs point to a possible unprecedented "red wave" in November. End
