UPSL Women's Division Announces Samba FC San Antonio as Central Conference Expansion Team

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 5, 2018 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Women's Division is excited to announce Samba FC San Antonio as a new member starting with the 2019 Spring Season.

Based in San Antonio (Tex.), Samba FC begins UPSL in the Central Conference and will play its home games at 5,000-seat Wheatley Heights Sports Complex (200 Noblewood Dr., San Antonio, TX 78220), a sterling multi-use facility in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

Samba FC San Antonio is operated by John Rexroat, a former professional soccer player and the new UPSL Women's Division Central Conference Director.

Rexroat, 52, was born in Bolivia but was a three-year varsity player and graduated from Los Angeles University High School before moving on to a career that included a seven-season stint as a goalkeeper for Cruz Azul in Mexico's professional second division.

Samba FC San Antonio Owner and General Manager John Rexroat said, "Samba FC San Antonio is very honored to be a charter member of the UPSL Women's Division. The recent UPSL expansion in women's soccer is a great opportunity here in Texas, and as we continue the development of the Central Conference we are looking forward to some doubleheaders with the Samba FC San Antonio's men's team and building the Samba FC brand throughout the region."

Samba FC San Antonio's men's team currently is playing its second season in the UPSL's Central Conference.

Rexroat holds several USSF coaching licenses and has coached amateur players who have moved on to collegiate and professional careers.

The team soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 130 teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 140-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
