On this current season of "Iyanla Fix My Life" several familiar names and faces from former fame or reality TV shows appeared and from the looks of things, the work they were asked to do and the things they heard was very intense!

One of those faces is R&B Singer, Actress Monifah. With the help of Life Coach Iyana Vanzant, she is called upon to assist on this family drama with Monifah and her daughter Akemi. Who needs to address her internal issues with her mother. In which she has kept to herself for all these years, At one point Akemi speaks to the singer about her feeling like she was abandoned as a child. In one moment, she sits across from her mother on the couch and says, "You selfish b*tch, how could you just leave me?" With Monifah picking her musical career over raising her.

Monifah, publicly revealed she was in a same-gender relationship. In the series finale of her reality TV show R&B Divas: Atlanta. Monifah married her longtime partner Terez Mychelle, on April 4, 2014. Even though Akemi didn't like the fact that her mother dated men and women, Monifah respected her daughter's beliefs.

What happens when Iyanla tells Monifah that she was out of order as a mother at the height of her fame? The R&B star struggles to repair her fractured relationship with her daughter before their pattern gets passed to her grandsons.


It all finally reaches it's boiling point, as mother and daughter will air out all their grievances with each other during this explosive Season Finale episode entitled "Fame Over Family".

About Monifah:

East Harlem, NY born Monifah Carter, was a child prodigy at the tender young age of seven, exuding talents as both a singer and actress. She appeared as a principal in the very first national Hi-C Drink Box commercial and can be credited with several other national commercials.

She was accepted into both the Vocal and Drama departments at the prestigious New York City's Fiorello H. LaGuardia H.S. of the Performing Arts, where she opted to technically study her first love - singing.

Monifah burst onto the R&B music scene in 1996 underneath the wings of the late Heavy D. She made her mark in the music industry with 3 amazing albums that gave her Platinum and Gold Hits.

Her debut album, "Moods... Moments", executive produced by Heavy D., Track Masters and Vincent Herbert, was released. She had immediate success with the radio hit, "I Miss You (Come Back Home)". The album also featured the hits, "You" and "You Don't Have To Love Me", all of which received heavy rotation on BET and Urban radio (RIAA certified Platinum).

"Mo'Hogany", Monifah's second studio album, was released in 1998.
It featured the international club banger, "Touch It", which peaked at #9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart and crossed over to peak at #1 for four consecutive weeks on the Hot Dance Club Play Chart (RIAA certified double Platinum). In 2000, her third album, "Home", produced by hit- maker Teddy Riley, was released and debuted the single, "I Can
Tell" (RIAA certified Gold).  Afterwards, Monifah went on to perform live shows and appear as a supporting cast member in national stage plays.

In 2012, she was selected to be an inaugural cast member of TVOne's record-breaking docu-series: "R&B Divas: Atlanta", for three consecutive seasons.

She made history winning a 2015 Media GLADD Award for Outstanding Reality Program with the airing of her wedding to her beloved girlfriend Terez Mychelle The couple's wedding became the first African-American celebrity same-sex union wedding special that aired on national television.
