FORT MYERS, Fla. - Oct. 9, 2018 - PRLog -- The Planned Giving Council of Lee County, Inc. will present "How Donor Advised Funds Can Benefit Your Non-Profit and Your Donors" at the Thursday, October 25 meeting.  The speaker will be William Hewitt, Vice President of Institutional Development, American Endowment Foundation.

Donor Advised Funds – also known as DAF's – have continued to experience dramatic growth in popularity over the last decade spanning virtually all segments of the population, and recent changes to the tax code have only served to amplify that growth.  While the fundamental merits of donor advised funds continue to be hotly debated within some philanthropic circles, the flexibility, ease of use, and economic structure remain significant attributes as family philanthropy expands.
This session will look briefly at several of these trends and the specific benefits related to their impact on IRS Schedule A deductions.

Hewitt has been involved in the financial services and philanthropic communities for more than 40 years.  He has served as director of advisor training for New England Life, managing principal for Century Investors and CUNA Brokerage Services, Regional V.P. for the Nationwide Financial BEST of AMERICA® annuity division, and founder of Investment Training Associates, an educational and consulting firm.  For the last decade Hewitt has been involved with the marketing and sales of donor advised funds (DAF) and related technology within the financial services and foundation communities. He previously served as senior sales executive for the Kintera Giving Fund DAF platform, and chief marketing officer for Crown Philanthropic Solutions' innovative Donor First web application and administration platform. He joined American Endowment Foundation in June 2016 to help lead their institutional development efforts and expand DAF opportunities within the financial services community.

Founded in 1993, American Endowment Foundation (AEF) fills a unique role as America's largest independent donor advised fund program– a national, public charity with over $2 billion of charitable assets under administration. AEF provides highly personalized service to donors and their trusted advisors, offering great flexibility in accepting different types of simple and complex assets. Additionally, AEF uniquely offers open investment architecture and at the donor's recommendation, AEF can enable their donors' wealth advisors to manage the investments in their clients' fund accounts on their preferred custodial platform.

The meeting is sponsored by Hughes, Snell & Co., P.A. and will be held at Blue Coyote Business & Social Club, 9854 Caloosa Yacht and Racquet Club Drive, Fort Myers from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch and program begin at noon.  The event is free to members.  The cost for non-members is $30.00 and includes lunch.  Reservation deadline is Monday, October 22 at noon.  To RSVP go to plannedgivinglee.org.
