Since launching his first line in New York City in 2012, the Senegalese designer has become known for his statement pieces featuring new treatments of fabric involving braiding, lacing, and beading inspired by the West African Bassari tribe to create depth and texture in garments that are almost ethnic in nature.  SUKEINA's attention to detail defies standards of what luxury wear can be, while its rhythmic nature is unique and built in to the process of conception and ideation. At GTBank Fashion Weekend 2018 - West Africa's most anticipated fashion event - Salam is bringing SUKEINA's Spring-Summer 2019 collection to Africa for the first time - showing on November 10th. According to Omar, this latest chapter for the house says, "We are opening the gate to a conversation between the world of fashion and all women, everywhere. By showing in Africa, we're welcoming the world to our vision and saying, `Come in and share what we have to offer'."
