Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful's Schelly Marlatt Named Moxie Award Finalist

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Nov. 13, 2018 - PRLog -- The Gwinnett Chamber (http://gwinnettchamber.org/) inaugural Moxie Awards (http://gwinnettmoxieawards.com/) will honor women who are making it happen. Recognized as an area leader, Schelly Marlatt of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful (http://www.gwinnettcb.org/) (GCB) has been named a finalist in the Pay It Forward category.

"I am truly shocked and humbled to be a finalist in the 'Pay It Forward' category of the Gwinnett Chamber's new Moxie Awards," said Marlatt, who serves as the Executive Director for Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful. "I love what I do, the organization for which I am blessed to work and the community we serve. I have the awesome responsibility of motivating members of the Gwinnett County community to action on behalf of the environment, having a direct impact on the environment through a series of cleanup and recycling events, and fostering a new generation of environmental stewards through the Gwinnett County Public County School System. To be recognized for that work as a nominee – let alone a finalist – is an incredible privilege. I am beyond honored to share this recognition with a group of remarkable shining stars in our community."

In addition to her work with the environmentally-focused nonprofit, the two-time breast cancer survivor devotes a great deal of her time, energy and resources to the American Cancer Society. She is proud to serve as the "poster child" for early detection and prevention, believing that if she can save one person from mirroring the experiences she has endured, then she has successfully done her part in paying it forward. When she is not hard at work at the offices of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful or out in the community at a cleanup or awareness event, Marlatt can be found in the congregation at Gwinnett Church or at a baseball field or basketball court throughout Gwinnett and the Southeast watching her two boys play sports. She also enjoys traveling, discovering new wines and – most importantly – sharing dedicated family time.

The Moxie Awards will recognize individuals and organizations alike. Organizational awards will highlight companies that support the advancement of women, as well as those that are women-led. In addition, individual awards will honor those who are trailblazers in a male-dominated field, Gwinnett County champions, emerging leaders, professionals who are at the peak of their career and those who are generous with their time, talent or resources.

The awards ceremony will conclude a two-part program on November 27. It will begin with a panel, featuring Kim Guthrie, president of Cox Media Group, Wendy Johnson, president of Dale Carnegie of Georgia, and Jenny Pruitt, CEO & founder of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty.
