Follow on Google News | Thanks to Maddie, Kentucky Humane Society Earns Innovation Grant for Purrfect Day Café PartnershipThe grant is provided by Maddie's Fund®, a national family foundation established by Dave and Cheryl Duffield to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals, and will help pay for medical care for shelter cats so they can become ready for adoption. Purrfect Day Café, located 1741 Bardstown Rd., is a unique social enterprise that allows guests to enjoy beverages and food while spending time with KHS adoptable cats. At the café, cat lovers can unwind and meet felines in an environment comfortable for both people and cats. According to owner Chuck Patton, the Purrfect Day Café's mission centers on facilitating a better matchmaking experience for cats and people. "We set a goal of finding homes for 300 cats in the first 12 months of the café being open," said Patton. "But we are thrilled to report that we exceeded this goal in just 3 months." Not only is the café helping find homes for cats from Jefferson County, but it is also allowing KHS to transfer in at-risk felines from shelters across Kentucky. In many situations, these cats have little chance at adoption in their home communities, according to Karen Koenig, Vice President of Animal Welfare. "Thanks to Maddie, KHS can take in and provide medical care to these cats. And once they are ready for adoption, Purrfect Day Café finds them wonderful new families, resulting in more lives saved," said Koenig. In addition to facilitating adoptions, the café supports the Kentucky Humane Society by donating tips back to KHS, hosting education and outreach events, and sponsoring events such as KHS' Tuxes & Tails Gala and Waggin' Trail Festival for the Animals. To date, the café has donated more than $8,200 to KHS. About Maddie's Fund: Maddie's Fund® (https://www.maddiesfund.org/ End
