Icahn School of Medicine Prof. Named South Nassau Communities Hospital's Chief of Geriatrics

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. - Nov. 20, 2018 - PRLog -- South Nassau Communities Hospital has appointed Clifford Feiner, DO, FACP, Chief, Division of Geriatric Medicine within the Department of Medicine effective August 2018. Dr. Feiner is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Geriatrics/Palliative Care and Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount. Sinai. He served as founding chief of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at Queens Hospital Center (QHC).

"I am pleased to announce that under Dr. Feiner's leadership, South Nassau's geriatric medicine program and services will greatly expand and the residents and communities we serve will greatly benefit from his continued commitment to compassionate care."

While leading the expansion of South Nassau's geriatric in-patient, outpatient and nursing home services, Dr. Feiner will also be actively involved in the Geriatrics component of South Nassau's new Internal Medicine Residency program beginning in July 2019.

As chief of QHC's geriatric medicine program, Dr. Feiner spearheaded the reorganization of the hospital's community-based off-site facilities and was instrumental in the planning, development and implementation of a 4,400 square foot of outpatient geriatric clinic. He also established a geriatric medicine curriculum for residents in internal medicine and OB/GYN and medical students.

A Fellow in the American College of Physicians and invited speaker at medical seminars throughout the New York metro area, Dr. Feiner has practiced both Internal Medicine and Geriatrics for 31 years. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Area Geriatrics Society where he organized conferences and mentored geriatricians-in-training. Dr. Feiner graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology in 1987, completed an internal medicine residency at Long Island College Hospital and trained at the world renowned Mount Sinai Medical Center geriatrics fellowship training program. In addition to geriatric medicine, Dr. Feiner also specializes in Internal Medicine.
