Follow on Google News | Sacred Heart High Senior Emily Finn named MIAA Student-Athlete of the MonthBy: Sacred Heart School Finn is a member and captain of both the Sacred Heart soccer and softball teams. As a center midfielder on the soccer team she scored her 100th career point this past fall season. On the softball field last spring, Finn enjoyed a perfect fielding percentage while batting .507 with 29 stolen bases. She is a three-time Mayflower League All-Star for soccer and a two-time softball All-Star. Academically, Finn is ranked in the top five of the senior class and has a 4.28 GPA, all while taking a full course load of Advanced Placement and Honors classes. She presently serves as Class Treasurer, is a peer minister, a school ambassador and a member of the National Honor Society. In addition to excelling in the classroom and on the athletic fields, Finn serves as a Eucharistic Minister at her local parish and volunteers to feed the homeless at Matthew's Kitchen. Recently, she coordinated a school fundraiser that collected more than $2,000 for breast cancer research. "Emily consistently proves herself to be a leader in the athletic arena, the classroom and the community," said Sacred Heart High School Principal Dr. Michael Gill. "The entire Sacred Heart campus congratulates her on this most recent accolade." The MIAA Student-Athlete of the Month Award is presented on a monthly basis to one male and one female student-athlete who display excellence in the areas of academics, athletics and community service. Finn will be honored at the MIAA Awards Banquet in the spring.
