SAINT JAMES, Mo. - Dec. 11, 2018 - PRLog -- Prock Operations Inc., a manufacturing company headquartered in St James, Missouri, received the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District's (ORSWMD) 2018 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Solid Waste Management. Carla Lee, Prock Operations Corporate Counsel, accepted the award on behalf of Prock Operations at the ORSWMD Annual Banquet, November 27, 2018.

"We are honored to have received this award. Since its beginnings, Prock Operations has worked to develop eco-conscious materials and to incorporate recycled and sustainable materials into our manufacturing. We applaud Ozark Rivers and its members on their dedication to our environment," said Christopher D. Peters, President, Prock Operations.

Under its solid surface division, Prock Operations has kept more than 30 tons of solid surface remnants out of Missouri landfills by upcycling the remnants into signs, plaques, coasters, trinkets, and many other business and home décor products through the Newlife Specialties™ product line. Further, Prock Operations is the sole manufacturer of EcoTec Surfaces™, a patented recycled and bio-renewable solid surface material made from recycled glass and bio-renewable soybean resin.

Prock Operations is grateful to Bonnie Prigge, MRPC, for the nomination.

ORSWMD, funded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, provides assistance to communities, including grants, reuse and recycling programs, education programs for schools, and general awareness programs. ORSWMD covers the seven-county region that includes Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Phelps, Pulaski, and Washington counties.

For 24 years, ORSWMD has been recognizing those who help the district achieve its goal, a 40% reduction in waste going to landfills, through its awards program. Awards were also given to these organizations for their leadership in environmental stewardship:

• The Route 66 Parrot Head Club, with members from across the region, for its work to keep the south side of Route 66 between Bourbon and Cuba clean.

• Owensville Lions Club, Owensville, for its work to keep a one-and-a-half-mile stretch of Highway 28 clean.

• Gary Gilliam, Potosi, for his work on building recycling programs and the wealth of recycling knowledge he brings to the district as a board member.

• St. George School in Hermann for its efforts in recycling in the school and parish, and education of its students via the Ozark Rivers Earth Day Art Contest.
