WHAT: Paving the Way Project 5th Anniversary Celebration

Founded by former gang member and now devoted father Antonio Davis, Paving the Way is a testament to what Chicago needs more of – community driven and collaborative approaches to ending gun violence. Located in Washington Park on the frontlines of Chicago's gun violence, PTW serves as an outreach program for violence prevention and intervention, a bridge between public service personnel and the public they serve. Sunday's event will celebrate Paving the Way's success in building bridges in a fragmented city and modeling how working together is essential to ending gun violence and building up our neighborhoods.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Alderwoman Pat Dowell, 2nd District CDP CAPS, Chicago Citizens for Change (Chicago Survivors), Moms Demand Action, Strides for Peace and other organizations focused on a more peaceful Chicago will be in attendance. 150 people are expected to attend.

2:18-2:28    Awards for Special Volunteers and Service - PTWP Team

2:28-2:38    Mary Stonor Saunders (Strides for Peace)

2:38- 2:48    Open Floor Mic (2min each )

2:48 – 4:00   Party and Dance

WHY: Too often the headlines overlook the hidden heroes in our communities making a difference every day. Paving the Way works across lines to uplift communities and stop violence. Whether hosting summer festivals or conversations on the corner, visiting the Juvenile Detention Center on Christmas Day or sponsoring homeless community members to take part in the Annual Race Against Gun Violence, Paving the Way personifies what Chicago can accomplish when we work together.
