Behaviour Management Teacher Training in Kent

CHATHAM, U.K. - Jan. 14, 2019 - PRLog -- Kent Supply Teachers will tomorrow be hosting a training event for secondary school teachers at The Innovation Centre Medway. The behaviour management course, "4 Steps to Successful Classroom Management", will be run by former Deputy Headteacher, Jamie Howard, an expert in student behaviour following his years with whole school responsibility in this area, at a variety of schools.

The course is unique in that it focuses solely on the basic skills of getting a class of students be quiet, to listen when you are talking and to remain focused during your lesson. "Initial teacher training is too much about planning exciting and engaging lessons," says Jamie. "Of course, students prefer it when they do something fun in lessons, but teachers can't expect to attempt to teach creative lessons without first having learnt the basics in behaviour management."

By concentrating on 4 key areas – before you meet the class, first contact, the lesson and follow-up – the CPD course will allow teachers to improve their own behaviour management skills and, therefore, student learning.

Poor student behaviour in schools is cited as one of the main reasons for teachers leaving the profession and many teachers report frequent refusal to follow instructions and low-level disruption in their classes. This course hopes to address some of the common issues teachers face in the classroom and offer practical advice.
