![]() CE Symposium- Treating High-Risk Patients With Non-Statin Therapy for LDL-C Lowering: Optimizing Clinical OutcomesThis CE Symposium takes place on Friday, April 12, 2019, from 8:00 AM- 9:00 AM at the InterContinental St. Paul Riverfront, Main Session Room, 1 East Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul, Minnesota.
By: Voxmedia Cardiovascular nurses play a critical role in managing patients with increased atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk, and specifically, in patients with elevated LDL-Cholesterol (LDL-C). In this educational initiative, two lipid experts will discuss the residual cardiovascular risk in patients despite the use of statin therapy, identify patient populations who might benefit from the addition of non-statin, LDL-C-lowering therapy, identify non-statin, LDL-C-lowering therapies (ezetimibe and PCSK9 inhibitors) that have demonstrated reductions in the risk for major adverse CV outcomes when added to statin therapy in large cardiovascular outcome trials (CVOTs), and indicate best practices for use of non-statin, LDL-C-lowering therapies to reduce ASCVD risk. Use of interactive case studies will teach attendees how to use non-statin, LDL-C-lowering therapies in clinical practice, as well as demonstrate shared decision-making and effective clinician-patient communication to improve adherence to therapy and ultimately reduce cardiovascular risk. The initiative will take place at the 2019 Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA) Annual Meeting in St. Paul, MN.
