LOS ANGELES - Jan. 19, 2019 - PRLog -- The International Songwriters Day Song Contest opens Friday, Jan 18! We are looking for songs of inspiration," to kick off International Songwriters Day, (April 9). The contest runs until March 25, 2019. Details are at website http://www.internationalsongwritersday.com. Winners will be announced on April 9, International Songwriters Day.

The contest is open to songwriters all around the world, from all levels of experience. This year's theme is "Inspiration." We are looking for songs that inspire, think (new beginnings, second chances, starting over), etc. They can be ballads but they have to have an element of hope or redemption in the storyline, to fit the theme. Production and performance aren't a consideration. Songs are judged for melody, lyrics and originality.

There are some "golden ears" on board to judge the contest. The songs will be judged by Grammy nominated producer/engineer Bruce Sugar (Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne), Darryl Ross; a Multi-Platinum producer/arranger, Barry Coffing; a No#1 songwriter, whose songs have been in over 200 films and TV shows, Alan Roy Scott who has had cuts with (Celine Dion, Roberta Flack, Cher, Ray Charles), Mike Gormley, LAPD Mgmt. who helped launch the careers of Rod Stewart, BTO, Rush, The Police, Supertramp and Diana Williamson who has written 2x#3 Billboard Hot Club chart songs, is author of "101 Tips and Tricks of Successful Songwriting, is a Voting Member of the Grammys, a Juror for Factor and CEO of Themusiclibrary.org

Some of the prizes include a consultation with award winning author and founder of the legendary Music Connection Magazine, Michael Dolan, ADK microphones, a chance to pitch your music to film, TV and record labels through Broadjam, music business directories from The Music Registry, Indie Bible, Music Industry Connection, the "101 Tips and Tricks of Successful Songwriting" book, passes to the Springboard Festival Memphis and publicity on social media blasts.

The contest is just the beginning in the creation of International Songwriters Day, April 9. It's a day to recognize the great contributions songwriters have made around the world. There are many things in the works to celebrate this event.

Diana Williamson, the Founder Of International Songwriters Day (April 9) and the International Songwriters Day Song Contest started the events and organization to recognize the vast contributions songwriters make around the world. Diana herself is a 2 x #3 Billboard Hot Club chart songwriter, author, voting member of the Grammys and CEO of Themusiclibrary.org.

International Songwriters Day is not only a day of celebration but the organization plans to get involved in advocacy on behalf of the rights of songwriters. They will be partnering with organizations and charities that work in this area.

What better way than to start a day in their honour?! "Take a songwriter to lunch, buy their CD, some merchandise, follow them on social media, basically show them some love!" That is what International Songwriters Day is all about, the annual event begins April 9.
