United Premier Soccer League Announces Midwest Expansion with FC Diablos

LOS ANGELES - Jan. 24, 2019 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to welcome FC Diablos as a new member club kicking off with the 2019 Spring Season.

Based in Bloomington (Ill.), FC Diablos will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference South Division, and is finalizing its venue options in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Midwest Conference Manager Cliff Conrad said, "We're excited by the addition of FC Diablos to the Midwest Conference. We all know Illinois is a hotbed for the game, and Bloomington always is a strong representative statewide. We wish FC Diablos the best as it prepares for the 2019 Spring Season."

FC Diablos has played friendlies against a number of UPSL teams, and participated in several regional tournaments since 2017.

Roberto Yepez is President of FC Diablos. A native of Illinois, Yepez currently is studying Sports Management at Lincoln (Ill.) Christian University.

We want to create an environment in which players can compete to move on to the next level, and the UPSL is a growing league with better options for our clubs and opportunities for our players. Ladule LoSarah is Head Coach of FC Diablos. LoSarah is a former American-born South Sudanese international footballer who last played professionally for FC Inter Leipzig in Germany.

FC Diablos Head Coach Ladule LoSarah said, "FC Diablos Under-23 team joining the UPSL is an exciting development for soccer in Central Illinois and particularly for aspiring professional players in the Bloomington-Normal area. We will use the league as a platform to showcase the area's top local talent while developing them within a professional environment. Beyond that, we will be competing for a league championship and bringing high-level soccer to the area for Central Illinois families to watch and enjoy. I am delighted and humbled to personally be a part of the project and vision Roberto has actualized with the club, and am eager to contribute my experience and acumen to furthering all aspects of the FC Diablos program."

Dan Koon is General Manager of FC Diablos. Koon is an Illinois-based real estate appraiser.

FC Diablos General Manager Dan Koon said, "We're looking forward to offering a new opportunity for a post-high school soccer experience within the Bloomington-Normal area. We're also excited to be able to partner with local businesses to make this happen."

The club will host an open tryout on March 2 at a site to be determined, and soon will announce its upcoming UPSL game schedule.

FC Diablos is an American Soccer club currently based in Bloomington, Ill., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. FC Diablos will play in the UPSL Midwest Conference.

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
