![]() The Community Is Invited To ARTS-Us' Sankofa Celebration 2019 With Keynote Speaker St. Paul Mayor Melvin CarterSankofa: Spirit of the Ancestors 2019 fundraising celebration is a chance to welcome the community to reflect on 26 years of developing young leaders through African Arts, Culture, and Sciences featuring a heritage presentation of music, dance and video produced by ARTS-Us youth, followed by a keynote address by ARTS-Us alumnus, Mayor Melvin Carter, who will share his story about how African cultural programming at ARTS-Us impacted his life.

Mr. Galloway continued to say that "ARTS-Us appreciates the support from the community and hopes the community will help us raise awareness and support for its work on behalf of the youth enrolled in ARTS-Us' cultural, edutainment and experiential learning programs." ARTS-Us seeks to develop young leaders in and through the arts, culture, and sciences of the African Diaspora. Through an interactive set of youth and community programs, ARTS-Us provides opportunities for youth exposure, instruction, mentoring and service learning in a rich range of arts rooted in the culture of the African diaspora. This year's fundraising celebration invites the community to honor the spirit of our ancestors by joining us to launch and support our new vision for a Center for the African Diaspora. The Sankofa: Spirit of the Ancestors Fundraising Gala 2019 is a chance to learn more about Arts Us, see young performers in action, and pledge support for a bold new vision for youth in St. Paul. The Sankofa: Spirit of the Ancestors 2019 fundraising celebration takes place on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Concordia University's Buenger Center located at 275 Syndicate Street North, St. Paul, MN. 55104. Mayor Melvin Carter, III is the keynote speaker that will follow a heritage presentation of music, dance and video produced by ARTS-Us youth. As an ARTS-Us alumnus, Mayor Carter will share his story about how the African cultural programming at ARTS-Us impacted his life.
