Auction Celebrates 50 Years Of Woodstock History

PashCo Posters Celebrates 50 Years of Woodstock With Significant Rock Auction.

MINNEAPOLIS - March 1, 2019 - PRLog -- This August we celebrate the landmark 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The three-day festival in upstate New York that was, for many, a high-water mark of the 1960s youth counterculture. The festival, made famous by worldwide press coverage, an Academy Award-winning documentary, two soundtrack albums, and an anthemic song by Joni Mitchell, brought together 32 amazing acts and half-a-million fans for "three days of peace and music" in Bethel, New York. They gathered on 600 acres of land owned by dairy farmer Max Yasgur, and despite torrential rain, shortages of food and water, and massive traffic jams, the festival is widely considered a pivotal moment of an entire generation.

To celebrate 50 Years of Woodstock, Pashco Posters will conduct an auction that pays homage to Woodstock and the music scene of the '60s and '70s psychedelic era. Pashco Posters will be hosting their now monthly rock auction on Monday March 4th, 2019 starting at 6PM (Central).  This is Pashco Posters' 90th auction, with over 30,000 bidders in 18 countries worldwide having access to these historic rock items.

In this collection, bidders will find an assortment of rare and vintage items; signed and numbered lithos; artists proofs, beautiful '60s silkscreens; a massive collection of original mint, near mint and VG+ posters; and of course a few surprises, including some very rare Berkeley, CA and Minnesota rock and roll items.

The highlight of the auction will of course be the double-signed ORIGINAL Woodstock poster. This rare Woodstock Festival poster is signed by the artist Arnold Skolnick and was owned by his estate.  It is an original poster printed on thin stock paper for "3 Days of Peace & Music" in White Lake, NY on August 15, 16, 17, listing an incredible lineup of artists including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, The Band, Santana and many more. The poster is signed in the plate and also in black ink by the artist Arnold Skolnick. It measures 24" x 36" and is in very good condition with some edge wear commensurate with age. It will come with a signed COA from the living estate and collection of Arnold Skolnick.

With 150 items, including both Fillmore and Avalon posters and even fine art, there is something that can interest any bidder. Pashco is also offering a few rarities that are not to be missed.  A rare JEFFERSON AIRPLANE KDWB poster from a 1967 Minneapolis, MN concert.  An extremely rare FUNK EXHIBIT poster from a show by Peter Selz, the first director of the University of Art Museum in Berkeley, California (these posters were all taken down and destroyed after the show). Finally featured among the other gold, is a rare poster and postcard set from the San Francisco International Pop Festival from 1968.

Once viewers sign up, they can begin to bid on items and participate in the live worldwide auction on March 4, 2019.  And if they are the winning bidder, they can have a rare Woodstock poster shipped and ready for framing above their stereo system before the August anniversary date.
