Milan Zoe Receives Astounding Recognition from the City of West Hollywood Mayor

LOS ANGELES - March 4, 2019 - PRLog -- The City of West Hollywood reflects upon Black Heritage Month as they celebrated almost 55 years of progress in advancing the civil rights of all Americans. At their celebration on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 the West Hollywood City Council issued a Proclamation to recognize the works of Milan Zoe in Los Angeles with #ChangingTheNarrative: a movement that encourages and empowers people to disrupt the status quo while promoting inclusion and social responsibility in all areas of life.

The City of West Hollywood understands, perhaps more than most, the importance of defending and celebrating civil liberties for all people. West Hollywood is committed to the enactment of laws that recognize and protect the rights of people for who they are. Milan Zoe was the perfect keynote speaker for The City of West Hollywood Black Heritage Month Celebration as her works in front and behind the camera allows for young girls such as herself to accurately tell their stories just as they are; which in turn allows for all minority individuals to "feel like [they] can do anything with no limitation," Milan states.  As media has become one of the gatekeepers to our history, it is imperative that each story is being told accurately.

"Often those in power fail to recognize the value of diverse contributors in every aspect of the creative process. This leads to limited perspectives which are not reflective of the world in which we live," says Milan Zoe. Her recognition is just the start of many proclamations to come as her hustle to create an inclusive community will never go unnoticed.

The City of West Hollywood Black Heritage Month Celebration serves to remind us we still have a long way to go. This struggle is far from over and we must continue to work for equality and justice for us all.
