The Cumberland Kids release debut single based on their upcoming film

NEW YORK - April 15, 2019 - PRLog -- The Cumberland Kids are the folk-rock duo of multi-instrumentalist Liam Higgins and actor/director Taylor A. Purdee (Gotham, Iron Fist). Known for intricate world building and the occasional lullaby, The Cumberland Kids provide narrative Folk-Rock storytelling built on soaring mythologies and stomp-able beats.

Their debut single Where We Should Be Today, available everywhere Friday, April 19th, was originally composed and recorded for the upcoming music film Killian & the Comeback Kids. This new rendition of Where We Should Be Today provided the duo with the opportunity to reimagine and rerecord the song in their own voice, separate from that of the confines of the film.

Where We Should Be Today explores the arc of a relationship (whether romantic or otherwise is left to the listener) over the course of a lifetime. Always unfulfilled, always at the back of the narrator's mind, Where We Should Be Today follows childhood friendships, the romances of early adulthood, infidelity, and was inspired in part by the hit and run death of a university classmate in the spring of 2016.

Killian & the Comeback Kids centers on Killian (Purdee), who returns to his hometown from college, intent on touring the U.S. with his bandmate Ben (Higgins). When their plan is derailed, Killian gathers former childhood friends to audition for a music festival coming to their once prosperous steel town.

Inspired by the historic DIY spirit of folk musicians and Americana, Killian & the Comeback Kids looks at an America that industry has left behind and where the promise of higher education as the gateway to comfort was left unfulfilled.

With an original score and soundtrack composed and produced by The Cumberland Kids, this marks the duo's first foray into film music.

The Cumberland Kids' rendition of "Where We Should Be Today" is out everywhere April 19th.

Blending fact, fiction, and folk-rock, Killian & the Comeback Kids marks the feature narrative debut of writer/director/composer Taylor A. Purdee.
