HRO Today and Broadleaf Results Release Report: Total Talent Management Practices and Challenges

PHILADELPHIA - April 29, 2019 - PRLog -- SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today Magazine, has released a new flash report, "Total Talent Management Practices and Challenges," sponsored by Broadleaf Results.

Today's workforce continues to evolve and looks much different than it did not long ago. With the onset of remote work, the gig economy, and the demands of the millennial generation, it's rare to find a company comprised of only a traditional, permanent workforce. Organizations with defined practices around both contingent and permanent workforces tend to utilize a Total Talent Management (TTM) model.

Nearly every study respondent (97%) who had already begun implementing a TTM model in their organization indicated that they had not yet completed the implementation. Furthermore, about one half (45%) of this group felt that most of the task was still ahead of them. "In looking at those who have begun implementing a TTM model, it's clear that there is still a long way to go before organizations are fully aligned," says Larry Basinait, Vice President of Market Research. "One of the biggest obstacles to implementation is long-term planning—organizations need to look at their workforces in a holistic manner. Other barriers include resistance from talent acquisition teams, lack of knowledge of TTM among senior leaders, and disjointed operating procedures."

Results from this study show that just over one half (58%) of respondents have taken action to align their TTM model. Those who are aligning their internal TTM models are most likely to have created a sourcing model for both contingent and direct applicants. However, there is still a long way to go before TTM has been fully implemented. Almost none of the respondents felt that they had completed this process, with those contracting the majority of contingent workers being the most likely to feel furthest from their goal.

"Those organizations with the most contingent workers, in particular, need guidance and vision to navigate the process to accomplish the goals of a total workforce solution, so they get it right the first time," says Lynne Marie Finn of Broadleaf Results.
