![]() Thiel College hosts local community for Sharon Regional health and wellness seriesThiel College and Sharon Regional Health Center welcomed the local community to Healthy Living, a program that connects the community health and wellness experts to discuss important topics in health.
By: Thiel College Tuesday's program was regarding stroke awareness and how to spot a stroke. May is stroke awareness month. The presenter was Sharon Regional's medical director of emergency care services David Shellenbarger, M.D. He discussed how to spot a stroke F.A.S.T. (facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulties and time), the causes of stroke, the signs and symptoms and the importance of quick intervention to reduce long term disability for the most common type of stroke. The presentation at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 is regarding managing joint pain. That is not the only Sharon Regional event taking place on Thiel's (https://www.thiel.edu/ All the programs are in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center at Thiel College and are free. Space is limited. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. These programs are not the first Sharon Regional Medical Center and Thiel College collaborations. A Sharon Regional nurse is providing health and wellness services for the campus community and future collaborations between Thiel College and Sharon Regional Medical Center could include a community clinic and professional, academic and research opportunities for Thiel College students.
