The Intermission Event vs. Essence Festival: Who will take the stage?By: SONSON OAKLAND, Calif. - May 23, 2019 - PRLog -- The Essence Festival is about to get a bit more interesting with an intermission. The Intermission Event (a subsidiary of SONSON) is a creative based collective experience, focused on increasing the visibility and economic growth of African American creatives.
The Intermission Event pays homage to the Black Renaissance and the sophisticated 20th century cosmopolitan experience. With a focus on art, fashion, and music the social event takes you down memory lane by creating an ambiance reminiscent of the speakeasy. More so, catering to individuals who appreciate the finer things and want a warm, inviting setting to socialize and indulge. Like the Black Renaissance, the event celebrates creatives who are passionate about their talents, have made differences in their community, and who have contributed by enriching the lives of others through their craft. The Intermission Event not only celebrates creatives, but also allows them to play a role in curating the event from inception to execution. Further making it come to life! This is what true creatives do. According to Rashima Sonson, visionary behind the collective "There are very few opportunities which allow artist to be part of an event highlighting their talents or better yet having the opportunity to put on an event to showcase their creativity—and we are doing this as a collective! From our talented graphic designer Zinna Riley, cocktail enthusiast Bar Crawl Nola, Bourbon and Whiskey educators (Partners In C.R.O.W.N.), to our sponsors (Urban Skin Rx, Bundts and Crumpets Tea, Flora & Fauna, Good Juu Juu, and Color Rich Beauty) this event would not be possible." Featured Creatives: DJ Stormy- Internationally renowned DJ Stormy, is a New Orleans raised DJ from the West Indies, is taking the world of EDM by storm and leaving no apologies. Recently featured on Oprah's OWN Network in a new unscripted series, "Ready To Love", executive produced by Will Packer. DJ Stormy has made her presence known around the globe. Her unique sonic blend and creative approach of infusing POP elements with Hip-Hop culture has her crossing demographics, mixing genres, blurring lines and creating the "new" normal! Mykia Jovan- A vocalist and songwriter from New Orleans, Louisiana made her debut performance at Essence Festival in 2018 performing inside the Good Vibes Super Lounge. Her distinctive voice often draws comparison to the timeless luminaries Billie Holiday and Erykah Badu, while her original compositions and live performances have established her as a singular voice in the modern progressive soul scene. T-Ray the Violinist- The multi-genre violinist from Baton Rouge, LA has graced the stage of both the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Voodoo Festival. He has worked with talents from Atlantic Records, RCA Records, Universal Records and so on, opening for the likes of Wale, DJ Mannie Fresh, Erykah Badu, Dead Prez, David Banner, 3DNatee and Curren$y just to name a few. The Intermission Event will commence on July 5th 2019, at the Drink Lab in New Orleans, LA during the Essence Festival. Throughout the evening guests will be captivated by the work of the featured creatives.
