By: Sarah A. Ponath Ponath, who operates The Law Offices of Sarah A. Ponath LLC in Butler, recently filed a campaign registration statement with the Wisconsin Elections Commission. While not planning to challenge an incumbent jurist, she will consider running for any seat that opens prior to the spring 2020 elections. Ponath cited community service as a driving force in her life, one that led her to a potential judicial candidacy. She has served as an advocate on both sides of the aisle in criminal proceedings and civil litigation, offering a balanced perspective on resolving difficult issues. Ponath, 51, is a 2007 graduate of Marquette University Law School. Her legal background includes experience as a special prosecutor in the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office, plus as an assistant municipal prosecutor for the city of Brookfield and town of Delafield. She served as an associate attorney with Nelson, Connell, Conrad, Tallmadge & Slein, SC, for several years before opening her own law practice in 2012. Ponath's organizing committee consists of Attorney Nolan Jensen of the Law Offices of Nolan A. Jensen LLC, Attorney Ronald Sonderhouse of Wolff & Sonderhouse LLP, Attorney Melissa Papaleo of Halling & Cayo S.C., Sally J. Slusser, Yolanda Tinkham Dailey and Scott Ponath. A lifelong Wisconsin resident, Ponath has lived in Menomonee Falls since 1997. Prior to studying law, she worked nearly two decades in business roles involving debt collection and remediation, employee supervision, and business operations and financing. Married to Scott Ponath, she holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a math emphasis. Ponath is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western districts of Wisconsin. End
