Haitian Heritage Museum Creates Little Haiti Walking Tour App

In Celebration of Caribbean Heritage Month, the Haitian Heritage Museum creates Little Haiti Walking Tour App

MIAMI - May 30, 2019 - PRLog -- The Haitian Heritage Museum in partnership with the Florida Humanities Council bring to you the Little Haiti Walking Tour App. Come to the Haitian Heritage Museum on June 27, 2019 at 6:30 pm for the launch of this historical occasion. Come learn about the 12 stops that would take local and international tourists around our neighborhood.

The themes of the APP are
1. Arts & Culture, and Monuments-
The themes Arts, Culture, & History (monument) are of major importance providing a rich representation of the Little Haiti Community. Little Haiti was established bu Haitian immigrants who fought to preserve their identity and share their culture in a new land. The richness of Haitian culture and history is told on the walls of street murals, and at local cultural organizations like Haitian Heritage Museum, Little Haiti Cultural Center as well as public monuments for all to see. These unique platforms represents a diverse canvas that shows comprehensive perspective of Little Haiti, and Haitian culture from various viewpoints

2. Religious Institutions- Religious Institutions are chosen as a theme because community churches represent the original center for civic engagements and social assistance for the immigrant community. The churches in Little Haiti are social building blocks upon which the community and all its pioneers and future stakeholders evolved.

3. Educational Institutions- The theme of Educational Institutions resonates in Little Haiti in a similar way that Religious Institutions did. While churches were the incubators for the first generation Haitians, the community placed even more importance on the education, so their future generations wouldn't have to endure the hardships that they experienced. The neighborhoods main elementary school is named after the Father of Haiti's Independence, Toussaint Louverture. The meaning of Louverturte is the opening"or the window, as Toussaint personified the window of freedom from slavery in Haiti.

4. Culinary-The Culinary theme resonates in the Haitian community in much the same way the Arts do. Food is an aspect  of culture and highly celebrated point of pride in Little Haiti and a great medium of engagement for visitors that want to experience the community's culture .

When: Thursday June 27, 2019 Hard Launch 6:30pm

Where: Haitian Heritage Museum 4141 NE 2nd Avenue Suite 105C

Why: Currently the tourism development efforts in Little Haiti have been exploding since the Greater Miami Convention & Visitor Bureau have launched ethnically diverse focused Tourism in culturally ethnic neighborhoods like Little Haiti to bring in a groups of tourists who are interested in the history and heritage represented in Greater Miami. This is part of GMCVB's 5 year strategic plan in response to demand that Greater Miami and the Beaches needs to increase the awareness of cultural attractions to visitors and local residents. Showcasing Greater Miami's heritage neighborhoods via the Cultural and Heritage Tourism program represents opportunities to generate incremental room nights and extend the length of stay of our visitors thus contributing to the economic impact of tourism for the State of Florida.
