NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - May 31, 2019 - PRLog -- Gladdy's Goodies owner Jason Dowd witnessed the worst act of animal abuse in person.  The outcome was a happy one as he saved the kitten and a local non kill shelter made room for the abused kitten eventually adopting her out.  Thanks to shelters like the SPCA of Congress St. in Port Richey, FL animals have a second chance in life. To honor their act of kindness of that abused kitten, and since all Dowd's dogs came from a rescue shelter, he wants to make June a month of support by raising money to help non-profit shelters, promoting adoption across the nation, and taking much needed supplies to help shelters in his area.

Dowd promised when he opened Gladdy's Goodies he would use his business to also help his community and communities around the US.  This month is dedicated to doing just that. Dowd wants to help non-profit shelters take care of these animals and afford to care for more through monetary donations, collecting bedding, towels, blankets, toys and food for local shelters and promoting adoption of these animals looking for forever homes, especially senior animals.

During the month of June, Gladdy's Goodies Facebook page will have a few monetary donation drives for Small Paws Rescue (OK) and South Lake Animal League (FL), two shelters that Dowd adopted his dogs from; he personally knows them well.  In addition anyone that buys a bag of treats on Gladdy's Goodies website in June, Dowd will donate $2.00 per bag to the ASPCA. He will also collect supplies to take to local shelters around the Tampa Bay area. You can also buy a bag of treats to be donated to local shelters.  So there are lots of ways to help! This is good for the month of June only.

"My three dogs Ali, Biscuit, Luna all came from shelters.  Ali was a puppy mill dog while the other two were severely abused and found themselves in a shelter.  They gave me three wonderful additions to my family. I know the hardships they face and the mission they pursue to protect these living creatures.  Honestly I wish I could do more, but I will do what I can with the resources I am given to help them take care of these amazing animals that had some bad luck. We encourage anyone that can help us, please help because a little can go a long way" –says Dowd

Adopting from a shelter helps reduce the population, allowing them to rescue more unlucky animals.  These shelters are no kill shelters so regardless if they adopt them out or not, they will never be euthanized. This is very important to Dowd and it's why he's focusing on non-profit no kill shelters.

Dowd and Gladdy's Goodies encourages you to be responsible pet owners.  Spay/neuter your pet, understand that pets are a long time commitment, and should you need to surrender your pet please surrender them to a no-kill shelter.  Most importantly please don't surrender a senior dog in order you make room for a younger animal.
