Follow on Google News | Announcing The 47th Annual Santa Barbara Writers ConferenceRecognized as one of the longest running conferences for writers, the SBWC provides the opportunity for aspiring authors to further their writing careers and interact with esteemed literary agents, editors, publishers and well-known authors.
By: Santa Barbara Writers Conference Thirty-six faculty members will represent every aspect of the publishing industry. The SBWC offers a choice of twenty-four daily workshops, as well as panels and appointments with consultants, acquisitions editors, and literary agents. Fannie Flagg, conference alum and bestselling author says, "If it had not been for this conference, I'd probably still be sitting on a rerun of The Dating Game somewhere." Fannie will introduce opening night keynote speaker and New York Times bestselling author, Lisa See. Lisa will receive the Ross Macdonald Literary Award before giving her evening talk. Speakers and panels are open to the public. Full-week or daily registration remains open for workshops throughout the conference and includes 24 different daily writing workshops to choose from during the conference week, including two late night "Pirate Workshops". There is also a talent show on the last night of the conference. • The 8:00 PM evening speakers are Lisa See, Steph Post, Stephen Markley, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and our own local Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner, Jeffrey C. Stewart. • Every afternoon from 4-5 PM are panels or other informative presentations. > Monday June 17: New Book Panel moderated by Lorelei Armstrong with August Norman, Deborah Gaal, John Reed, and K.N. Moore, Liz Parker, and Dana Newman > Wednesday June 19: Guerilla Marketing in the Social Media Jungle of the 21st Century presentation by Matthew J.
