eclipso Mail & Cloud introduces two-factor authentication

BAYREUTH, Germany - June 17, 2019 - PRLog -- eclipso.net is introducing an additional security level on its eclipso Mail & Cloud platform with two-factor authentication (2FA).

"The additional security allows our customers from all over the world to better protect their user account, e-mail and cloud data from unauthorized access". explains owner Claus-Peter Beringer.

Simple setup

The function is activated via the desktop menu Settings > Two Factor Authentication. The setup of the two-factor authentication itself is done in 2 simple steps and is possible without additional personal data (e.g. mobile phone number).

For activation you need an authentication app, which can generate TOTP passwords (Time based One Time Password). This one-time password is only valid for 30 seconds and therefore offers the optimal security to prevent the 2FA password from falling into strangers' hands.

The eclipso 2FA is compatible with Authenticator apps that support the OTP/TOTP standard (such as FreeOTP, Authy, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator etc.).

"During the implementation, we deliberately refrained from complicating it unnecessarily for our customers. The simple operating concept runs through the entire platform". continues Beringer.

To access the user account, the user enters his user name and password followed by the one-time password (TOTP). This one-time password is generated on the associated smartphone in the Authenticator app.
