WASHINGTON - June 20, 2019 - PRLog -- BizTechReports (www.biztechreports.com) has published its latest analyst roundup of research from leading analysts and consulting firms influencing the enterprise IT decision-making community.

Industrial Cybersecurity, Edge Compute, AI/ML and Augmented and Virtual Reality were among the areas of focus and insights offered by leading industry analysts and experts recently on BizTechReports (https://www.biztechreports.com).

Key Observations Included:

* Industrial Cybersecurity: Although there are imminent cybersecurity threats, the Industrial IoT and industrial control systems (ICS) sector is woefully underdeveloped, according to a recent analysis from ABI Research. As industrial networks increase their connectivity capabilities in critical infrastructures such as energy, oil and gas and nuclear power, the need for consideration of improved strategies in industrial cybersecurity remains. ABI research sets expectations for investments in this area to nearly reach $2 billion by 2025.

* Edge Compute: A recent analysis from Frost and Sullivan says that the proliferation in the number of connected devices is expected to triple by 2025. Beyond the growing number of devices, many require close to zero-latency data transfer resulting in a forecast of the current $768 million global edge computing market to reach $3.62 billion by 2022.

* Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning: New analysis by Gartner predicts that, by 2023, 75 percent of large organizations will hire artificial intelligence (AI) behavior forensics, privacy and customer trust specialists to manage and minimize brand and reputation risk. While concerns around bias in AI and machine learning (ML) continue, more executives in the data and analytics field are bringing on ML forensics and ethics investigators to identify these issues before deployment.

* Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality:  According to IDC's Worldwide Semiannual Augmented and Virtual Reality Spending Guide, the five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR) spending will be 78.3 percent. Spending on AR/VR  is expected to reach $160 billion in 2023 which significantly higher than the 2019 forecast of $16.8 billion. The leading sectors expected to drive this growth in spending over the next five years are finance and infrastructure with the manufacturing and public sectors close behind.
