General Time Development welcomes Wayfair to Athens, Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. - June 21, 2019 - PRLog -- The e-commerce retailer, Wayfair, is opening a customer support center in Athens, Georgia. Wayfair makes it easy to buy homegoods, furnishings and décor online. The Boston based company houses the brands Wayfair, Joss & Main, AllModern, Birch Lane and Perigold. The company currently has 13,300 employees and operates out of the Unites States, Canada and Europe. The Wayfair center will occupy about 45,000 square-feet of the 250,000 square-foot General Time mixed-use development.

Once the site of a clock manufacturing facility, General Time will feature a mix of office space, retail and restaurants and will be home to local favorites, which will be announced soon. The plans for General Time are being prepared by Smith Planning Group and architects MacMillan Pazdan Smith. Terrapin Beer Company has already begun to transform the site with a new 80,000 square foot warehouse to accompany the adjacent brewery. The new visionary project will also contain an indoor theater, amphitheater and apartments to create a complete, mixed-use neighborhood. With its proximity to the North Oconee River Greenway, as well as the future exceptional entertainment options, General Time will be a cultural epicenter in Athens.

Smith Planning Group is helping to lead the way in adaptive reuse projects in the region.
