IBEW Local 332 Celebrates 12 Years As A Sponsor Of The Tour De Cure: Silicon Valley

SAN JOSE, Calif. - June 24, 2019 - PRLog -- 12 years ago, IBEW union member Robert Seaberg, who has diabetes, organized the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 332 in San Jose as a sponsor of annual Tour de Cure: Silicon Valley, a walk, run and bike ride sponsored by the American Diabetes Association.

This year, just like the last eleven years, IBEW Local 332 sponsored a team for the Tour de Cure, held June 23 at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills. This year's IBEW team included 21 people affiliated with the Local (17 walkers and 4 riders).

Members of Team IBEW 332 recruited friends, and family to join them, so their team included significant others and children. Walkers completed a 5K course; bicyclists rode 12 miles. Team and individual donations go to support the American Diabetes Association.

Seaberg, now retired, has been a member of the IBEW for 45 years, and is gratified that IBEW Local 332 has been so active in the Tour de Cure. "Being a part of the Tour de Cure has helped our members learn more about diabetes," he said. "The Diabetes Association has participated in our yearly health fair, bringing us information and education. It is a good thing for the local union."

The Tour de Cure is the signature fundraising event of the American Diabetes Association. The event raises funds for research, advocacy, program and education. It gives people in the community an opportunity to support those living with diabetes. More than 30 million adults and children in the United States have diabetes. An additional 84 million adults have prediabetes, a condition likely to lead to diabetes if not addressed.
