LED Lighting Supports Fresh New Look at Kilsyth Swimming Pool

KILSYTH, Scotland - June 26, 2019 - PRLog -- Swimmers in Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire, are enjoying lighter and brighter pool facilities thanks to a refurbishment project led by GDC Design. Kilsyth Swimming Pool, run by NL Leisure, a registered charity, reopened in April 2019 following a £330,000 upgrade.

GDC, which provides bespoke refurbishment services to clients across Scotland, was tasked with updating Kilsyth's swimming pool to create contemporary, appealing facilities for swimmers and staff. GDC Design identified Earlsmann as the ideal partner for this project after hearing positive reports of Earlsmann's recent LED Lighting project at the Atlantis Leisure Centre in Oban – where new lighting is generating savings of over £2,000 a month.

LED lighting adds extra sparkle to interior design

GDC refreshed the colour scheme across the pool area by replacing the dated cream décor with a crisp white background, bespoke glass, and exciting, colourful murals.  LED lighting was the ideal choice to enhance this new light and bright background.  Earlsmann created a lighting design using Relux modelling to determine optimum luminaire positions, overcoming challenges such as low roof height and awkwardly-placed ventilation ducts.

The colour temperature was set at 5000K to create an energising atmosphere for exercise and leisure. GDC installed Earlsmann's new prismatic pendant LED luminaire throughout the poolside seating and café area to create a more intimate ambient light, complementing the neutral white lighting used across the swimming pool.

The pool environment now feels bright and fresh, making it more inviting for swimmers and a more enjoyable place for staff to work. The new LED luminaires have significantly improved light levels across all areas, while also creating substantial savings in energy use and ongoing maintenance costs.
