Live Music & more at Morven Museum & Garden's Free Jubilee Thursday, July 4, from noon - 3:00 pm

PRINCETON, N.J. - June 26, 2019 - PRLog -- – In 1783, delegates to Congress celebrated Independence Day at Morven, the home of Richard Stockton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

"This Fourth of July, Morven Museum & Garden will let freedom ring by opening our historic site to all for free family fun on Thursday, July 4th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 pm.," Morven's Executive Director Jill Barry announced recently. "There is something to interest everyone from live music to colonial games, art, and even baseball."

Some of the afternoon's activities at Morven Museum & Garden, 55 Stockton Street, Princeton, NJ include:

• Live Bluegrass Music by Chickens & Such on Morven's Front Lawn
• Food Trucks from Big Pinks BBQ, Kona Ice, Milk & Cookies, & Tower Dogs in Morven's Driveway
• Scavenger Hunt, Colonial Lawn Games, and Door Prizes
• Morven's costumed Annis Boudinot Stockton reenactor will stroll  the grounds and gardens. At 1:00 p.m. she will recite her poetry and at 1:45 join Annis and a group of volunteer readers in a group recitation of the Declaration of Independence on Morven's Front Porch
• Revolutionary Fan Craft and Large Community Art Painting Project with the Arts Council of Princeton (http://artscouncilofprinceton.org/): Children of all ages can design and create their own revolutionary fan to take home and contribute to the large community painting project of a portrait of Morven.
• Sign the Declaration of Independence as Richard Stockton did, while his likeness looks on.
• Visit the Open Archive of Rare Stockton papers with the Historical Society of Princeton.
• Patriotic Photo Opportunities with Collodion Collective and Vine Photography
• Contribute to the interactive Patriotic Chalk Art Wall in Morven's Courtyard.
• Attend Garden Tours held every half hour in Morven's historic Colonial Revival or Demonstration Garden.
• Baseball Historian and Guest Curator John Zinn will welcome visitors to Morven's second floor gallery exhibition New Jersey Baseball: From the Cradle to the Major Leagues, 1855–1915.

Morven's Museum will be free and open for visitation from noon to 3:00 p.m. on July 4. Formal tours will not be given, however, docents will be available inside to answer questions. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by parent/guardian and timed entry may be required for Museum.

Parking is available at the Princeton Theological Seminary and Monument Hall parking lots, or on the street. With so many children at the event, there will be no on-site parking.
