Follow on Google News | Salon business coach Thomas Jaeger tells MASTERS Audio Club how to launch a successful beauty careerThomas Jaeger founded The Salon Toolkit mentoring company and wrote Salon Success Toolkit. Interviewed by Winn Claybaugh, this 45-year industry veteran shares practical wisdom for launching a successful business or career.
By: MASTERS Audio Club At age 19, Thomas moved to Cologne, where he worked in a salon on weekdays and as a hairdressing teacher on weekends. In 1980, he migrated to Sydney, Australia, and a year later relocated to Melbourne where he managed a hairdressing salon for 12 months, developing staff training systems and marketing direction for a chain of six salons employing 30 staff. Over the next two years, Thomas managed a hairdressing chain in Queensland with four branches and 15 staff, tripling their turnover in less than a year through a system of target setting and staff rewards. In 1986, he settled in Perth where he managed two metropolitan salons before opening Jaeger Hair Design in Claremont. Nine years later, he sold the business and immediately opened an identical salon. In 2000, he opened another salon in South Perth and sold it five years later. His Claremont salon continues to operate successfully. Since the 1970s, Thomas has experimented with and perfected business ideas, systems, and techniques that allow his salon to work with minimal personal input. After studying accounting and business, and despite being dyslexic, he wrote the Salon Success Toolkit, a manual on how to run a successful hairdressing business, and he established The Salon Toolkit mentoring company. Interviewed by Winn Claybaugh, Thomas shares practical wisdom on what it takes to launch a successful business or career, including starting small, finding your niche, and becoming financially literate. Thomas sprinkles his tough message that "Not everybody has what it takes to run a business" with sound advice and best practices for creating financial success.
