By: IntegraCare The sixth annual event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association. "We are fortunate to have such a great team that puts together this barbecue fundraiser and such a loyal group of people who support us by attending the dinner," said Bobbi Howsare, Director of Sales and Marketing at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford. "The event seems to grow bigger each year and it raises funds for such an important cause, the Alzheimer's Association." Last year, the Western Day Chicken Barbecue raised $900 for the Alzheimer's Association. The past five years of barbecues have brought nearly $4,000 to the Association. "The Western Day has evolved into not only a popular tradition but has become such a great fund-raising event for the Alzheimer's Association," "It's really a great time for those who prepare the meals as well as those who attend," Bankes said. "The food always is top-notch. The entertainment is enjoyable. There is such a camaraderie among the Colonial Courtyard at Bedford team in preparing for this event and the patrons truly enjoy the day." Bankes said the previous three theme-based events raised the spirits of residents and their family members. The public also was invited, adding to the turnout. The meal will include barbecue chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, a roll and dessert. Children's meals include a hot dog, corn on the cob, applesauce and dessert. Western Day is open to the senior residents, family members and the public. Walk-in's are welcome, but Colonial Courtyard at Bedford recommends that people reserve tickets by calling 814.624.0100.
