By: MOWSOFLO The volunteer team at Meals on Wheels South Florida assists the organization by delivering meals to homebound clients throughout Broward County, providing grocery shopping assistance to seniors who are unable to shop for themselves, serving meals at congregate dining sites and more. Volunteers also spearhead the Meals for Companion Pets Program, which delivers pet food once a month to home-bound seniors who need assistance taking care of their animals. Meals on Wheels South Florida is part of a national network, Meals on Wheels America, the only national organization and network dedicated solely to ending senior hunger in America. They are the oldest and largest organization composed of and representing local, community-based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 states and U.S. territories. "Volunteers are truly the backbone of our organization," Volunteers must be 18 years of age and older, possess a valid driver's license, current insurance, and the ability to pass a background check.
