C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment's Travel Salary Index – June 2019 • Northern travel wages hit record high • Big rise in executive placements • Candidate and vacancy numbers fall again Travel salaries increase in June Salaries for new jobs in travel and tourism increased by 0.82 per cent last month to reach the second highest figure in at least the last seven years, according to the latest Travel Salary Index from C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment which surveyed all new vacancies registered with the companies during the month. The total of £28,185 stands behind only April's £28,382 as the highest number recorded since the Index began in 2012. Much of the increase was caused by a large increase in the number of placements in the £40,000 to £50,000 range, while salaries jumped in the north of the UK to reach a record high of £25,464. Wages for standard travel jobs (those paying below £40,000) dipped marginally by 0.92 per cent last month to stand at £24,073, but still increased by a healthy 5.2 per cent on the rolling 12-month average. Vacancy numbers edge down Activity levels remained subdued in June, with the number of new candidates and new vacancies both falling again. New candidate numbers have now fallen year-on-year for the past 13 months in a row, while vacancy numbers have dipped year-on-year for the past five successive months. However, the falls of just four per cent and two per cent, respectively, suggest that the market is regaining some balance. Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Director at C&M Travel Recruitment (http://www.candm.co.uk/ "There are some incredibly attractive vacancies out there with terrific salaries available, but many people simply aren't looking to move roles at the moment – this could be to do with continuing concerns about Brexit, the potential impact of Boris Johnson as the new Prime Minister or simply the distractions of the summer." …………………………………………………… All figures are drawn from the salaries of the month's new vacancies advertised with C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment. C&M Travel Recruitment was established in 1998 and is the largest and most successful specialist travel recruitment company in the UK.
