Douglas County Mom Develops Innovative Mobile Foreign Language Program for Area Children

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - July 29, 2019 - PRLog -- They say necessity is the mother of invention, and Douglasville, GA mom, Miesha Tate Ander, is literally hitting the streets along those lines with a fun, new mobile foreign language program called La Petite Prep. Developed for children ages 4-8, La Petite Prep was conceived after Ander realized the unlikelihood that her two young children would have significant foreign language exposure before middle school in her area.

Ander explains, "My mom moved us from Selma to Cleveland when I was six, and at age nine I was introduced to French in school. I remember it being new, exciting and uplifting." Ander continues, "as a kid, you don't understand the nuances, but research shows that 80% of the pathways in our brain that determine how we learn and thrive have been established by age eight. It's a critical time for brain development, and learning a foreign language is excellent for that. It's been linked to benefits around reading, testing, self-esteem— the list goes on. Children who don't receive any exposure during these years possibly miss out."

With a degree in French, having lived in France, and 12 years successfully running a business, Ander drew on her life experiences, educational background, and business acumen to develop an age-appropriate, fun and dynamic program that is accessible and affordable for parents who want to capture the moment. "The curriculum and activities have been developed around early learning standards and designed to spark creativity, fuel confidence, and propel growth," explains Ander. "This started out as me trying to figure out what to do for my kids, but soon became part of a larger calling. This program will impress upon children a moment of wonderment that stays with them for a lifetime."
