Follow on Google News | Marketing Strategist Shows How to Rent Email Lists (Without Going Broke)The decision for a company to rent email lists for lead generation can be a profitable one. It can also be expensive. In a new column, Michael Clarke, author and editor of Punk Rock Marketing shares secrets for how to do it on the semi-cheap.
That's the question posed by author and marketing strategist, Michael Clarke of Punk Rock Marketing. In a new column entitled How to Rent Email Lists Without Going Bankrupt, Clarke shares how marketers looking to rent email lists for the first time can ensure their experience is a successful one. "The number one question marketers need to ask is 'where did the leads come from?' And how well were they taken care of," says Clarke. Just because a company built up a database of emails doesn't mean they've taken care of their list. "Not all lists created equal. Most aren't. You need to really dig in to make sure they know who their audience is and what responds well to them. This includes seeing if they know how to segment their audience." Does the list owner not have their list segmented? Or is willing to be transparent about their data and results? Clarke suggests looking elsewhere. "There are a ton of email lists out there for renting. Magazines, for example, that are targeted work really great. As long as they've got segmented groups within their list," says Clarke. And the size of the list, says Clarke, isn't as important as the relationship that owner has with their contacts. "You'd be surprised how many list owners abuse their lists. It's sad. The only thing sadder is seeing marketers waste money on this type of trash." ------------------------------------------------------------ For a detailed look at how to rent email lists in a cost-effective way, check out Michael Clarke's new column on Punk Rock Marketing "How to Rent Email Lists Without Going Bankrupt" (http://punkrockmarketing.com/ End
