Events will be held at three locations: The Oxford Community Center; Candle Light Cove; and Easton Premier Cinema. "This important and insightful event will take place as part of the Chesapeake Film Festival and bring together education and the arts as an avenue to heighten awareness of dementia and mental health issues on the Eastern Shore," said Tami Weber, Community Relations Director at Candle Light Cove. The schedule at the Oxford Community Center: · 8 a.m., registration, breakfast reception & educational resource tables. · 8:30 a.m., Alzheimer's Association presentations. · 9 a.m., Virtual Dementia Tour. · 9:30 a.m., Late Afternoon, an Academy Award nominated animated short. · 10:30 a.m., Away from Her, starring Julie Christie, about a married couple challenged by their struggle with Alzheimer's. · 12:30 p.m., lunch reception. · 1 p.m., Aging & Memory Loss panel discussion. · 2 p.m., Alive Inside, about families who have witnessed the miraculous effects of music on their loved ones. · Traveling Art Exhibit on display throughout the day. The schedule at Candle Light Cove: · 5 p.m., Reception and Dinner · Traveling Art Exhibit The schedule at the Easton Premier Cinema: · 7:15 p.m., Iris, starring Judi Dench and Kate Winslet, the story of novelist Iris Murdoch and her battle with Alzheimer's. The Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT) provides participants a glimpse into the world of dementia through the evidence-based dementia simulation training. "So many families are touched by dementia. The CFF is happy to be partnering with the Oxford Community Center and Candle Light Cove for a full day of films and educational and inspirational events about aging and memory loss for 'Art to Remember,'" said Cid Collins Walker, Artistic Director, Chesapeake Film Festival. The Panel Discussion will be an interactive educational session. "The Oxford Community Center is thrilled to be a part of bringing such an important conversation to the area," said Liza Ledford, Executive Director of the Oxford Community Center. "The day-long event provides many touch points that allow us to experience what it's like for a person with dementia and demonstrates the impact these illnesses have on loved ones and caretakers too.
