ATLANTA - Sept. 26, 2019 - PRLog -- Asterisk is open source communications software that can be used as a framework for developing advanced communications solutions and has been the go to software replacing more traditional proprietary software used in PBX servers. It is used by software developers to create innovative custom apps that handle complex uses of voice, video, and text communications, such as automatic call distribution, conferencing bridges and unified messaging, to name just a few. Now going on its twentieth year, Asterisk is the largest open source telecom software anywhere. With a global reach developers have created a great diversity of implementations.  Sangoma Technologies is the primary developer and sponsor of the Asterisk communications project and the FreePBX project, the world's most widely used open source PBX software.
Asterisk has been at the foundation of many new innovative IP-PBX servers that include several well known companies that build server appliances. It has also been instrumental in the development of hosted VoIP providers that offer business communications systems through a cloud PBX model. http://AsteriskPbxSystems.com
