Sponsorship and support of legislation at the federal level are critical to making these projects happen. A large portion of the funding for Long Branch Trail was provided through a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration grant. "Most people are familiar with the role architects and engineers play in development, yet most may not realize the value landscape architects bring to a project. Landscape architects meld art and science to create functional, sustainable and expertly designed landscapes that tie the buildings and streets of our cities together and are integral to catalytic projects, like Long Branch Trail, that fuel economic vitality," said Lora Greco, president of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The Long Branch Trail project is just one example of how landscape architecture plays a critical role in the lives of all Americans. Every day, landscape architects design safe, healthy, well-planned places for people in North Carolina and throughout the nation. About the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Landscape architects lead the stewardship, planning, and design of our built and natural environments.
