About the Author: Sandra Gomez was born in Cuba and moved to the United States in 1969. She studied medicine in the University of Salamanca, Spain, and UCE in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Gomez trained at St. Louis University, and then moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she now lives. The neurologist recently retired from medicine and plans to become a full-time writer.
