Rapper, Anti-Bully & Albinism Advocate Roben X Speaks to Hundreds of Leaders & Youth in Cologne, GermMemphis, TN native Roben X received a standing ovation, during UNICEF's Child Friendly Cities Summit in Cologne, Germany, after delivering his speech encouraging youth to recognize their power
The Child Friendly Cities Summit is annual event that brings together legislators, leaders, technical experts and youth from Child Friendly Cities around the world to discuss innovative approaches to advance child rights through local commitment and to identify and exchange good practices at the local level. For Roben X, this experience was further confirmation that he is fulfilling his purpose while living his dreams. "I feel amazing! This was a huge deal to speak about child rights in front of an international audience. I am honored that UNICEF considers me, a young African American male who grew up in the Orange Mound community of Memphis, TN, someone who can influence leaders who have the power to create positive change in their own cities and the world. I also believe in the power of our youth to assist with this change. They just need the proper guidance and support to do it," he said. Roben X is also a United Nations Humanitarian Ambassador and in 2018, he traveled to Geneva, Switzerland to speak and perform during the U.N.'s Human Right's Day. Roben X is all too familiar with having his human rights violated. As a child, he was violently bullied because of the lack of pigmentation in his skin. This led to severe depression that made him contemplate ending his own life. After being introduced to music by his mother, Roben X gained a positive outlet for his pain. Now, the 20 year-old visits schools and organizations speaking about treating others as you would like to be treated and how to channel that energy into something beneficial.
