One of the highlights of the evening will be the introduction of a "first-of-its- Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Vera Bradley said, "The creative partnership between FIT, Baekgaard USA, Vera Bradley and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation has been an exciting collaboration incorporating feedback from many types of users to create thoughtfully designed bags, wallets, ponchos and other items that are as easy to use as they are beautiful. It's possible to change the world with fashion, and this project gave us the opportunity to do so," explained Jonathan KYLE Farmer, Professor, Chair, and Creator of the MFA Fashion Design program within the School of Graduate Studies at FIT NYC. To mark this year's 2019 Gala, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation will also present three awards during the evening honoring innovators in the areas of industry, medical institutions and clinicians. The honorees for 2019 are as follows: the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center at Columbia University for their commitment to lifespan care, Chubb Insurance for their Accessibility is Beautiful Initiative, and neonatologist Dr. Nathalie Maitre, of Nationwide Children's Hospital for her vision and leadership in early detection and diagnosis of cerebral palsy in high risk infants. The "master of ceremonies" for the evening will be sportscaster, Jason Benetti, who is also an ambassador for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
