Follow on Google News | Do catalogs still sell? Flipsnack, the online catalog maker analyzes catalogs from top 100 US retailBy: Flipsnack "The online media has become more and more used by retailers because it influences the buying decision and simplifies the buying process. Consumers expect an integrated shopping experience across various channels and platforms and expect retailers to deliver this experience. With our study we wanted to help retailers understand the mechanisms of marketing with online catalogs, to provide a knowledge base and identify unexplored opportunities in this underutilized marketing tool." says Janina Moza, marketing manager at Flipsnack. Furthermore, Flipsnack found that images placed within these top catalogs are directly correlated to the main reason for publishing an online catalog. After analyzing hundreds of pages of product catalogs, Flipsnack came to the conclusion that the image percentage is directly connected with the catalog intent. Brands whose direct goal is to sell through catalogs tend to have more than 50% images in their publications. Interactivity is one of the main features of e-catalogs. Big retailers like Walmart or Target publish online weekly ads including shopping links allowing for a more smooth and engaging shopping experience. A tremendous help that gave the old-school weekly circulars an upgrade in the digital space. The aim of this study was to observe if catalogs and especially digital ones are still a useful promotional tool for the top 100 USA retailers. Flipsnack published two articles containing more data and facts in reference to how and why big retailers and some of Flipsnack's premium users use e-catalogs in 2019.
