A truck in now needed to pick the shipment up from the rail and deliver goods to a 3PL or warehouse for transloading, where the shipment will efficiently be transferred from one mode to another.

Once the transfer is complete (typically within an hour), the trucker can haul the shipment to the port for ocean vessel loading where it will finish the last leg of the transport and arrive at destination.
