Follow on Google News | Esteemed Literary Anthology Series Features the Joys of TravelHumorous, distinctive, and surprising, The Vicarious Traveler is the newest collection in Lowestoft Chronicle's much-admired literary series
Over the past decade, Lowestoft Chronicle has acquired a large following among new and established authors. James R. Benn, creator of the famous Billy Boyle mysteries, has called it "a superb online journal," and Sheldon Russell, best known for his acclaimed Hook Runyon books, described it as "both classy and fun to read." Original stories by Iowa Short Fiction Award winners Ivy Goodman and Jennine Capó Crucet have appeared in the magazine, as have works by internationally bestselling authors Jay Parini, James Reasoner, Suzanne Brøgger, and Franz Wisner. Founded by Nicholas Litchfield, an English-born author and journalist, the name was inspired by the English coastal town of Lowestoft, which was a regular weekend getaway of his. It was the town's historic lack of notable writers or periodicals that prompted him to launch Lowestoft Chronicle, providing the town with its first literary magazine. Each year, Lowestoft Chronicle publishes an anthology of the best work. Iconic novelist Luke Rhinehart, author of the 1971 cult classic The Dice Man, touted their first collection as an impetus for inspiring him to write short stories again. Subsequent volumes have featured in various tabloid newspapers in the UK, including the Lancashire Post, and have been favorably reviewed in Examiner.com and Austrian national radio station FM4. The latest compilation, The Vicarious Traveler, which will be published on November 15th, includes a foreword by Michael C. Keith, a professor emeritus at Boston College who is best known for his memoir The Next Better Place. Keith Rosson, author of the literary novels The Mercy of the Tide and Smoke City, praised the collection for its "sly humor" and "clear reverence of story." Linda Boroff, screenwriter of the notable independent movie Murder in Fashion, dubbed it a "cornucopia of riveting tales and vivid poetry," while crime fiction author Timothy J. Lockhart praised the editor for his "admirable work in selecting and presenting a memorable miscellany of fiction, nonfiction, and verse that beckons to literary travelers and leads them onward from one entertaining stop to another." The Vicarious Traveler is available from all major booksellers, including Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/ End
