Floyd: born Donnell Floyd, entered the go-go industry as a saxophonist for Rare Essence in January of 1983 while a student at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Since the turn of the century, he has been captain of his own ship with the District's premier grown-and-sexy band known as Team Familiar, performing in venues across the D.C. Metropolitan Area four nights out of the week. Team Familiar, formerly known as Familiar Faces, reflects D. Floyd's never-dying aspirations for national exposure. His formula for realizing that vision involves penning lyrics relevant to current world events, and incorporating a strong go-go beat with memorable hook. Some of Team Familiar's most notable shows include, performing at D.C. Mayor, Muriel Bowser's Inauguration, and a sold-out Summer Breeze Concert at Nationals Stadium. 2018, Team Familiar took their talents to the next level and became global go-go ambassadors when Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, invited the group to the Pan-Afrikan Back-To the Roots Festival in Nigeria. While there, Team Familiar met Femi Kuti, son of legendary Afrobeats pioneer Fela Kuti. Team Familiar was the first ever go-go band invited to the Motherland by African royalty, an amazing accomplishment for the go-go industry.
