BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Nov. 20, 2019 - PRLog -- Larry Kinitsky has been named Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Helen Keller Services (HKS), one of New York City's largest and oldest human service organizations serving individuals who are blind, visually impaired, deaf-blind or have combined hearing and vision loss. He previously served on the HKS board for more than 10 years as Chairman of the Development Committee. Kinitsky succeeds Christopher Maher as Board Chair. The announcement was made by HKS President and CEO Kim Zimmer.

"Over the past decade, Larry has devoted his business expertise, time, energy and commitment to Helen Keller Services, working tirelessly as a board member to help guide our organization to fulfill its mission," Zimmer stated. "I am confident that as Chairman, he will work in partnership with the Board to keep Helen Keller Services strong and provide the kind of leadership that inspires his fellow board members as well as the entire organization."

Zimmer also thanked Maher for his many years of service and accomplishment. "Chris was elected HKS Board Chair back in 2010, two years after joining the board," she noted. "During his remarkable tenure he helped ensure the future legacy of Helen Keller Services. Everyone joins me in thanking Chris for his outstanding leadership and congratulating Larry on his new role as Chairman."

For more than 30 years, Kinitsky has served as President of WP Owners Corporation, one of the largest co-op associations in New York City serving over 1800 families. He recently retired after a distinguished marketing career in the financial services industry, having led the marketing efforts of several top banks including Chase, Citi and most recently Dime Community. At each institution he focused his efforts on helping communities and not-for-profits prosper within the bank's footprint. In addition to his work for Helen Keller Services, Kinitsky in 2001 formed WP Charities, whose mission is to raise and distribute funds to local community-based organizations.

Helen Keller Services' mission is to enable individuals who are blind, visually-impaired, deaf-blind and/or have combined hearing-vision loss to live, work and thrive in their community of choice.  HKS offers services and programs through two divisions: Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults and Helen Keller Services for the Blind.  For more information, please visit www.helenkeller.org.
